Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual lymph drainage is a specialised gentle massage for patients with Lymphoedema which reduces and minimises swelling a condition which may result from surgery or radiotherapy. Manual Lymph Drainage aims to redirect fluid from swollen areas to healthy lymphatic vessels, transporting it back to the normal circulatory system . With gentle, light but precise hand movements applied to the skin, the therapists exerts different intensities of pressure to increase the activity of normal lymphatic vessels. This encourages the fluid away from congested areas by bypassing ineffective or injured lymph vessels. The treatment is very gentle and a typical session will involve drainage of the neck, trunk, and the affected extremity.

Reflexology

Reflexology means applying pressure and massage to areas on your feet and hands.  The feet are the most common area to treat.  According to reflexologists, you have reflex areas in your feet that match every part of your body.  Therapists claim that there is a map of the left side of your body on your left foot, and the right side of your body on your right foot.  Reflexology has been used for centuries.  It is thought to have been developed originally by the ancient Egyptians.  It is one of the most popular types of complementary therapy in Ireland and the UK among people with cancer.  Reflexology means applying pressure and massage to areas on your feet and hands.  The feet are the most common area to treat.
